Product Developer – Furniture (Full-time, Copenhagen)
OMHU is looking for a structured and hands-on Product Developer to join our product creation team in Copenhagen.
We are looking for someone who loves turning design into real products, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to help build a new generation of furniture beyond our iconic TEDDY sofa.
If you have taken furniture from sketch to mass production, know your way around factories and materials, and want a key role in a fast-growing design brand, this could be a great opportunity to grow with us.
This role is based at our office in Copenhagen NV. You should expect to travel quite frequently to suppliers, partners and events in Europe, US and Asia.
Who are we looking for?
You are technical, curious and solution-oriented. You take ownership of your projects, pay close attention to quality and detail, and are comfortable challenging a design when it doesn't work for production.
If you also have a passion for design and furniture, you will feel right at home at OMHU.
To thrive at OMHU, you should be able to balance quality, cost and speed, and communicate clearly with designers, suppliers and colleagues. We imagine you have the following competencies:
- 4–7+ years of experience in furniture or relevant consumer goods (sofa or lounge seating is ideal).
- A strong network with, or experience of, manufacturers in Europe, Eastern Europe and/or Asia.
- Deep understanding of upholstery, foam, fabrics, and wood, plastic, glass and metal structures.
- A solid grasp of the cost drivers in furniture production.
- Hands-on experience taking products from sketch to mass production.
- Confidence to push back on design when needed.
- You like data and use AI tools to work more effectively.
- Comfortable working internationally across factories, time zones and cultures, and happy to travel frequently.
What will you do?
The most important thing you will do is turn great design into manufacturable, scalable, high-quality products. Day to day this looks like:
- Owning the technical development process from concept to prototype to final production.
- Working closely with the Design team to interpret and challenge designs.
- Creating product briefs, technical drawings, datasheets, QC manuals, tech packs, specs and BOMs.
- Being the main point of contact with our suppliers.
- Scoping, selecting, qualifying and onboarding manufacturing partners together with Supply Chain & Procurement.
- Leading sampling and prototyping cycles, and reviewing and reporting on all development samples.
- Ensuring product quality (durability, comfort, finishes and compliance) during development and mass production.
- Solving production issues such as fit, materials, tolerances and defects.
- Supporting launch readiness, including packaging, assembly and logistics.
- Building and owning a roster of suppliers based on skills, geography and materials.
What do we offer?
- A key role in a rapidly growing international design brand, at a time when we are expanding our range well beyond TEDDY.
- The chance to shape our product development process and roadmap from the start.
- International travel to suppliers, partners and events.
- Lunch arrangement with healthy and delicious food.
- Social events and celebrations of our successes to strengthen team spirit.
- A high-performance culture where direct feedback, quick decision-making and personal development are part of daily life.
